In the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, it is extremely important to ensure your safety and at the same time to continue delivering uninterrupted services. Therefore, an increase in working from home has become a necessity to meet those objectives. Here are some tips on how you can practice remote work security: Just as you would do while working on premises, when working from home, you are responsible for keeping the customer and company’s information and devices safe. DO
  1. Identify a quiet and organized private space to work from in order to safeguard confidentiality.
  2. Take breaks throughout the day for lunch and exercise. These breaks will help you focus more on your work. Your health is key to maintain your sanity and work performance.
  3. Wear headphones with built-in microphone where possible.
  4. Stay in constant communication with your boss and coworkers. Only use the company’s usual approved method of communication and work devices.
  5. Get ready for the day. With remote work here for the long-term, a surprise video conference with internal team members, clients and vendors at any time. (PNP means “Plug-n-Play” and “Please-no-Pajamas”)
  6. Lock your device to prevent others from seeing what you’re working on. This includes the bathroom break!
  7. Avoid feeling isolated. We are team at the local office and in our remote office. Collaborate often, reach out for help and make sure a great idea is heard by a human vs.  plants or pets.
DON’T
  1. Work from your bed. While it may be the most comfortable, it can damage your spine, laptop, quality of work and performance.
  2. Click an attachment you were not expecting, and make sure the attachment is legitimate before opening it (call the sender! sending a separate response does not work for screening).
  3. Write your password, client or business information on paper or note pads. IT can guide on tools to help you adjust.
  4. Printing anything. If you need a second monitor for document review and editing, please use your own or submit an asset request to your supervisor.
  5. Let your work day slip away. It’s important to create a routine you can stick to and a schedule that allows you remain productive.
  6. Allow your email to become a distraction. While it’s important to check your email, dedicate a block of time rather than having it constantly open.
  7. Use social media during work hours. There are many reasons for this. There is a lot of fear and negativity out there.
